Tag Week: The Reread, Rewrite, Burn Tag

Hey guys! It is once again Tag Week on Summer Snowflakes, and to begin, I was tagged by the lovely Shar from Virtually Read for the Reread, Rewrite Burn Tag. Thanks so much for tagging me, Shar!

Ze Rules:
Choose any 15 books.
Divide them into groups of 3.
For each group, choose one to reread, one to rewrite, and one to burn.
(basically Kiss, Kill, Marry only better because they’re books.)

I picked most of these books from my personal library, but because most of my physical copies are parts of various series and I didn’t want to reuse authors, I scanned my Goodreads list and picked a few I thought would make this tag even more interesting. I jotted the names down, tore up the pieces of paper, and placed them in the Pink Baggie of Destination (much like Shar’s Plastic Box of Doom, only pinker and deceivingly seemingly benign).

Group 1:

So we start off with an easy choice. At least for me.

Winter: Reread. Because gorgeousness.
Found: Rewrite. Because this is a fantastic concept and I think it has SO MUCH potential; but the idea could’ve been executed better.
Fate of Ten: Burn. Mostly out of spite because I can’t believe he did that.

Group 2:

CRAP THIS IS HARD BECAUSE I LOVE ALL OF THESE.

*sighs* After careful consideration and inner wailing, I have chosen:

Bluefish: Reread. Again, because gorgeousness.
Mark of Athena: Rewrite. Gorgeousness, yes, but I need to change that ending.
Hunt for Jade Dragon: *sniffles* IT BURNS. At least I have book five to look forward to.

Group 3:

MY LOVE IS IN THIS ONE <3

Throne of Glass: Reread. It’s not that I particularly loved this book, but... I don’t know. I kinda want to give it another chance because I feel like I could like it. Really, it’s right up my alley, and I want to see if I can get into the series. So yes, reread Throne of Glass.
Revenge of the Sith Novelization: Rewrite. Keeping almost every gorgeous word, and simply changing the way it all ends.
Angelfall: Burn. It’s not that I particularly hated this book--in fact, it was pretty good. But out of this particular group, I’m afraid it’s the one that has to go. My apologies.

Group 4:

Okay, so I completely adore The Golden Specific, but... but... I HAVE IDEAS FOR TWILIGHT, OKAY?! I THINK IT COULD BE SO MUCH BETTER AND DANG IT I DON’T WANT TO BURN THE POTENTIAL, AND TGS IS ALREADY PERFECT AND I’VE ALREADY READ IT.

*hand trembles over bonfire.*

Aw heck, I can’t burn TGS either.

The Golden Specific: Reread. Because everything about this is gorgeous: concept, writing, charries... just YES. <3
Outcasts: Rewrite. Solely to make myself a glorious Mary-Sue. No, I do not care that that is highly frowned upon.
Twilight: Burn. *sighs* I’m so sorry.

Group 5:

Oh crap... NO. no no no no no This is... NO. I... I can’t...

Okay, so obviously, I amthe one who put all this together, but I did not expect this to happen when I did! I mean, Mindblind is one of my favorite contemporaries ever, HTTYD is hysterical, and Little Women... is Little Women. How... how am I supposed to... *dissolves in distress* *eventually returns, somewhat composed*

Fine. After thorough consideration and extensive pain, I have labeled them.

Mindblind: Reread. You know the drill... because GORGEOUSNESS.
Little Women: Rewrite. With the original book open right beside me, so I can copy it almost word for word except for who certain people end up with.
How To Train Your Dragon: Burn. I’m so sorry. *collapses and dies*

***
Despite my distress and eventual death, that was a fantastic tag. Thanks so much for tagging me, Shar! I had a blast. :D

For my part, I tag Tori and Bailey. Don’t feel obligated, but I would love to see your answers. :) If anyone else would like to do it, consider yourself tagged and leave me the link in the comments so I can visit!

So have you guys read any of these? Would you change my verdicts on any of them? Leave me a comment and let me know! Can’t wait to hear your bookish opinions. :)

  1. Thanks for doing the tag! That is indeed a terrifying pink Baggie of destination. Some of those decisions seem so hard and OMG that mind blind (keyboard book, as I will now think of it) and Bluefish both sound really good. And also the golden one (has already forgotten the name) These decisions looked hard *pats your back in consolation and gives out cupcakes*

    1. They are SO GOOD!!!! And I'd highly recommend them. :D

Thank you so much. I have begun to recover from the trauma, but these decisions were certainly difficult for me. *gobbles cupcakes*

  2. *Sighs* I really ought to FIND THE TIME TO READ MORE. Why don't I READ more???

Haha, this looks like so much fun. :) (Okay, and anguish. Lots of anguish.)
After this whole divorce-business is over, I think I'll make a blog. Maybe I can do the tag then. :)

I was so confused at first. I thought 'burn' meant 'love it so much you're burning with love.' I eventually caught on. *bangs head against keyboard* I'm so stupid sometimes! ;)

    1. Ah, I feel you! Even as a book blogger, I wish I read more. *le sigh* There's just not enough time in the day for all the books.

Yes, fun and anguish. Definitely both.
Ooh, that would be really cool! Hope you're doing well, btw! I'm still praying for you and your family. :)

LOL, You're not stupid; that's an easy mistake to make. I didn't make that particular mistake, but I also didn't quite understand the tag the first time I saw it. :)

    1. Haha, it definitely was a blast! :D

And I wish I didn't have to burn Twilight, like I said in the post, but it had to be done.

  4. You do what you want, huh? *raises an accusing eyebrow* If you say so.

Winter is of course rereadable, although I might have done a rewrite because I liked the ending I imagined way better.

I would switch Outcasts to Burn and Twilight to reread. But I am sure you could have guessed that.

I would also burn How to Train Your Dragon, but not apologetically... ha...

These are so fun! I love watching people choose how to burn their books. XD

    1. Haha, when it comes to fandoms, definitely. :)

Really? Care to share how you imagined it?

Haha, yeah, I could have. To each their own, I suppose. ;)

REALLY??? But it's so much fun...

LOL, true. It is a fantastic tag. :D
