Tag Week: Milk Tea Book Tag

Hey all! I was tagged for this by the lovely Shar from Weaving Waves Words. At first, I wasn’t sure if I would do this one because I didn’t know if I could come up with a book for each category. But I did! And I’m super glad because this tag looks like a ton of fun. So let’s dive right into it.

I randomly noticed that there are no rules for this tag. I LOVE IT ALREADY.

Tea: The Foundation Of Your Reading Life
sourceI haven’t even finished Avatar yet, but I officially think of Uncle Iroh everytime someone says “tea” now.
The first books I really remember choosing to read are the original American Girl series (think Kirstin, Addy, Samantha, that group) and the Dear America books. But the ones that really got me hooked on reading were the Nancy Drews.

I haven’t read every Nancy Drew book in existence, but I have read quite a few from each series: the graphic novels, the original series, the Nancy Drew files, The Clue Crew, the Notebooks, everything. When I truly became a bona-fide, go-hard bookworm, I read every Nancy Drew book I could get my hands on.

Milk: A Rich Smooth Book
I debated this one for a while because, honestly, I had no idea what was meant by “a rich smooth book.” So I scanned through my Goodreads for a book that seemed like it would match the category and I found this:

I’m not really sure how to explain my choice, but I feel like the beauty of this romance and the gorgeousness of the character development matches the criteria, so I’m just gonna roll with it.

Sugar: A Book You Love But Is Controversial
Why is sugar controversial? WHO HAS ANYTHING AGAINST SUGAR?????

Apparently, enough people for this to be a part of the tag. So. I will answer the question now.

The Tiger Saga isn’t exactly what I’d call controversial, but from what I’ve seen on Goodreads, it’s one of those series where people seem to either love it or hate it. And I love it (have I mentioned that before?). So, yeah.

Ice: A Book Just For Fun.
Or actually anything by Mo Willems

I realize this is probably not the answer most people expected (or even similar to the ones most people gave), but I have younger siblings, so Mr. Willems was the first author who came to mind.

And honestly, I’m 17, and I’d still recommend these. So that just tells how fun his books are.

Silk Stocking: a book that’s much better than it sounds.

I feel like if I try to explain this plot it comes off as really, really weird. Kinda like this:
pinterest

BUT THE STORY IS AMAZING AND THE CHARACTERS ARE ADORABLE AND I JUST FINISHED THE ANIME SERIES AND OH MY GOODNESS I HAVE FEELINGS IT IS TOO GORGEOUS.

Yinyang: a book with foreign influence
For a while there, I thought I was going to have go with The Heroes of Olympus series. Apparently, I read a lot of American books. Either that or I’m just not good at seeing the foreign symbolism.

Luckily though, I remembered this one just in time.

I almost fit this one in the Milk category (and it probably could’ve made Silk Stocking too), but I think it fits best here. West of the Moon takes place in Norway around the 18th or 19th century, I believe, and it features a lot of their older tales and mythology, while still telling the historical tale of two young girls separated from their father. It’s an amazing read all-around, but one of my favorite parts is how well the author shows the setting of the countrysides and mountains. It’s absolutely breathtaking. <3

And that’s the tag! This is definitely one of my favorite tags ever, so I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did. :D Also, because this is a tag and not an award, I am once again being lazy and not tagging anyone. So if you wanna do it, have at it! Just leave a link below so I can visit your post. :)

Have you read any of these books? Any matches for the prompts off the top of your head? What’s your favorite tea? (mine’s Irish Breakfast. Soooo good.) Comment me!

  1. I'm glad you did this tag, Alexa! I also have younger siblings, and Don't let the Pigeon Drive The Bus is DEFINITELY just for fun. I haven't watched all of Avatar either, but that meme/gif is very funny. Uncle Iroh is hilarious! I've never hear of those tiger books, but they sound interesting, and so does The Clearing. :D :D Um, I remember reading Nancy Drew (just the originals) when I was 7 or 8, and then my parents decided that they had too many boyfriends in them, so I had to stop (and returned to ballet novels). I never returned to them, even though (considering everything else I read) it's not like they could stop me :D

    1. I'm glad too! Thanks for tagging me :)
      Yes, I /know/! He's too funny! :D
So glad I could introduce you to those! They're gorgeous <3
Haha, well, I'd say for a 7 or 8 year old, it might be a bit too much. I think I was maybe 10 or 11 when I got started with them, and then read till I was around 15 or 16.

  2. Ahh, American Girl. I'm 17 too and I still collect these. xD My older sister has been into them ever since I can remember, and I guess I just sort of latched onto it. And the older books (including the ones you mentioned) are better than the newer ones, in my opinion... they just seemed to be deeper and more exciting. And then they went and started changing the covers and the title-pattern (is that even a thing?) and everything and it's just not the same anymore. -sigh- I'll stop now before I go into a full-blown rant about a children's book series.

Well now you have me intrigued about this Tiger Saga and West of the Moon stuff. Although I admit I really just want to find out what that creepy thing on the mountain is.

    1. Haha, I only stopped recently! Maybe a year or so ago. And yeah, I agree. I haven'y read all of the newer ones, but the ones I have read were enjoyable, but not quite as good as the older ones.
YES I KNOW. It's pretty, admittedly, but it's just not the /same/.
Hahaha, I welcome rants! And I'd probably rant with you!

YAY!!!! I hope you read them and enjoy them! And hehe, you'll have to read the book to find out ;)

  3. This tag is my favorite. :D THE PIGEON BOOKS OH YES. I have little siblings in my family which means we pretty much always have them around which pleases me because they're hilarious and just absolutely my favorite.

  4. I loved doing this tag, and I'm glad you decided to do it for yourself. I know I used to read a bunch of Nancy Drew when I was younger, but I haven't read one in years and I'm sure I haven't even read half of them. Other than that, I'm pretty sure I haven't read any of the books you listed, but The Tiger's Curse looks interesting, so I will have to check that one out at some point.

  5. These are all such great answers, oh my goodness! This is such a cool tag. XD All these books seem to fit well into their categories - good job. :D Also, younger siblings are great; you get to read all of the fun books! ;D

I've only ever tried two types of tea, and they are black tea and chai tea. And oh my gosh. Chai tea is like. I really, really liked it. It was a chae latte, actually, and, I think that is drink-talk for "with milk" but. XD But yeah, as I've only had it once and generally go for the regular black tea as that is usually what we have, black tea is probably my favourite. Apparently it's meant to be without milk (Idk, I just Googled to make sure that I got the name right and it said "tea without milk?"), but I have it with milk. And sugar. AND ALSO. I KNOW (Question 3). The poor sugar. XD How do you have your tea? :D

    1. IKR?! And thanks! Hehe, yeah, younger sibs can be good for something ;)

I've never had chai tea, but people keep talking about it, so I might have to try it sometime, lol.
And I'M THE SAME. I ALWAYS put sugar in mine, and most of the time, milk too. Unless it's iced or flavored, then I leave the milk out.

  6. Fullmetal Alchemist is so so gooooood! :D :D :D It is a really tough show to explain without sounding insane. XD I also was an avid reader of Nancy Drew when I was younger. The Tiger saga sounds interesting. What's it about? Good picks for the tag! ^ ^ Are you a tea drinker?

    1. YES. Another Fullmetal fan! :D Have you watched the anime, read the books, or both?

It's kinda complicated, lol, but basically this girl named Kelsey works at a circus for the summer and she meets this tiger, who happens to actually be an Indian prince cursed to be a tiger for the last 300 years. She and him (and his brother, eventually) have to travel around India, and through a lot of her myths and legends, to break the boys' tiger curse. It's really cool. :D

I am when we have it at my house. However, we more often have coffee, so I drink that more often.

    2. I've watched Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood and it's one of my favorite animes. ^ ^

      Huh that sounds really interesting!

Ohhhhhhh. Do you prefer one over the other?

    3. THAT'S THE ONE I WATCHED!!!! It's so amazing! <3

      It is! :D

Hmm... I don't know really. Depends on my mood. Coffee's better if I need to wake up, but tea's better for relaxing. So yeah. depends on what I'm looking for. :)

  7. Nancy Drew was totally one of my favorite books when I was little. They were very nice in second grade! But now I do not think I could get through one because they would kill me. XD Also, TEA. Your tea picture was beautiful. I really need to watch Avatar...

    1. lol, I haven't tried one in a while, so I'm not sure if I'd be able to get through it or not. I don't think I'll try, at least not right now. Wouldn't wanna ruin the nostalgia, lol

Thank you! And YES YOU DO. Everyone needs to watch Avatar! lol
