Melodic Mondays: I Promise by Stacie Orrico

When I was eight or nine, maybe even younger, I heard Stacie Orrico’s song “More To Life” on the radio. Since then, she’s been one of my favorite artists, and a couple of years ago, I decided to look her up and listen to some of her other music.

I couldn’t be happier that I did.

Among other amazing songs, I found “I Promise” from her 2003 self-titled album. But not until last week, as I was listening to it for the billionth time, did I realize that “I Promise perfectly describes the two main characters in my manuscript, The Supernatural Projects. Jesse and Aleiah have been best friends pretty much since Aleiah was born, and when they’re separated by the Projects, they long for each other and for their friendship more than anything else. The song “I Promise” beautifully depicts their feelings for and dedication to each other.

Not a representation of them exactly, but a pretty close look at their relationship.
