Melodic Mondays: This is Christmas by Kutless

So yes, technically, Christmas is over. But you guys know, the spirit lives on throughout the year and all that. So here’s another Christmas song.

I love this one, because, one, Kutless is pretty cool, and two, because I feel like it’s one of those songs that almost completely captures the true meaning of Christmas, especially in those chorus lines, “What is Christmas if there never was a Savior wrapped in a manger? What is Christmas without Christ?” Like anything and everything else without Him, Christmas would be nothing. Jesus Christ’s story is Christmas. Not presents or parties or food or even family, but this, His birth and His purpose in coming to Earth, this is Christmas. The gift of the Savior wrapped in the manger, the Son of God, Jesus Christ, born as a human to be sacrificed for all our sins. That is Christmas. And that never goes away. :)

So as the holiday season nears its end, what are your thoughts on 2015? Plans for 2016? Do you have a lesson from God you’ll carry throughout your life, or any specific goals for the future? Tell me about your Christmas or if you’re ending the year with a bang or a book (personally, I’m hoping for a little of both). Can’t wait to chat with you in the comments. :)

  2. Oh gosh, that is a beautiful song. I don't listen to Christmas music throughout the year (I just can't do it, lol), so I definitely hope I'll remember this one come next year.
My goals/plans for 2016 are pretty varied. First and foremost, I really want to devote a lot more time to prayer and Bible study (not just reading, but actually *learning* it). Other than that, I want to do a whoollle bunch of reading, and hopefully make some sense out of my two current WIPs (maybe finish one or both of them?).
And I think I'm ending the year with Age of Ultron. xD

    1. Haha, that's okay. Maybe I'll post it again to remind you. ;)

Nice! Those are some great goals. What are your WIPs about?
And YES. Age of Ultron is fantastic! :D

    2. One is a fantasy; it's about a world that is being overtaken by a deadly disease and is depending on six teenagers to save it. The other is a sci-fi, my NaNo novel about people without powers being useless outcasts, if you remember reading my synopsis a while back. :)

    3. Oh, yeah, I do remember that! And both sound pretty cool. :) Best of luck with your writing, and Happy New Year! :D

  3. Hi, I just found your blog - will totally be coming back! (probably too often, I have an unhealthy habit of reading every single post of the blogs I really like) (;

  4. Thanks for the great reminder. I might end the year with a quiet sort of bang: might have a sleepover with friends or just stay up for a while with family. :) You?

    1. No problem! :) And sweet, that sounds nice. :) I went over to a friend's house, and we ate waffles and watched Star Wars until midnight. It was pretty fun! :D

    2. That sounds fun. :) We watched Do You Believe? after midnight. :) Which of the Star Wars movies is your favorite?

    3. Oh, I've heard of that one, but I haven't watched it yet! Was it good?

Revenge of the Sith, all the way!

    4. It was good. I like the multiple-story aspect of it. The ending kind of had too many "coincidences" happen at once. However, it IS a powerful story.

The first time I Watched "Revenge of the Sith" I was SO scared. I've only watched it twice now, I believe. :) What did you think of the 7th movie?

    5. Hmm, good to know. I might have to try it out sometime. :)

Haha, really? Which one do you like the best?
When I first saw it, I thought it was good but completely unoriginal. The more I think about it, though, the more I think I'd like it if I saw it again. I don't know, it's kinda hard to explain. I liked it, but I like all the others better. But I'd still like to give it another chance, and see if my opinion changes at all.

    6. I might like the 2nd the best. It's been a while since I saw any of them, except for the seventh. Yes! I was so disappointed with how much it paralleled the 4th movie. I was like, no, no, no, no... ugh, you did it. But I was expecting way too much. :) What other movies do you like?

    7. The second's one of my favorites too! The only one I like better is the third <3
That's exactly how I felt! Like, "THIS HAS ALL BEEN DONE BEFORE... but am I being too harsh???" So yeah. That's why I'd like to see it again.

A lot, lol. Right now, I'm really into the Marvel Universe, though. But I have a ton of movies I love. You?

    8. Yeah... maybe.

I like Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and the Chronicles of Narnia. Classic three series that I love. :) Out of Christian movies, "Courageous" has been watched so many times... Also, watched "The Book Thief" last week. That was so good; now reading the book :)

    9. I love all three of those <3 <3 <3 And I've seen Courageous! That one was really good. I haven't watched The Book Thief, but I did read the book.
