Melodic Mondays: You by Britt Nicole

I think “You” is the first Britt Nicole song I ever heard, and it’s still one of my favorites. I love this single for its catchy, bouncing beat, and for the amazing message in the lyrics.

Kat, one of the four protagonists in my new manuscript, What's Real, loves the song, too. Or she will anyway. Without giving too many spoilers, Kat’s main problem is the void in her life. Now we all have it, a hole in our hearts that can only be filled with Jesus; but for Kat, it feels like the hole is about to consume her. No matter what she does, no matter who she’s with, she never feels like she’s had enough. Like she is enough. However, throughout the story, she’ll realize that only Jesus can ever satisfy, and all she has to do is accept the precious gift of salvation He freely offers.

By the end of the story, Kat will have put aside the temporary things she once used to fix her soul, placing her heart in the hands of the “only One worth living for.”

Now, I wanna hear from you: Do you have any characters with stories like this?
